In the midst of warning of very difficult times, Isaiah shares the thought that the Prince of Peace would keep us in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee. Do you focus on the waves or the one who walks on the waves.

In chapter 24 Isaiah prophecies great doom and distress; but in chapter 25 he declares that God will swallow up death forever!

Isaiah shares with us the fall of Babylon. Like many prophecies, it appears to have dual meaning. The fall of Babylon and the fall of sinful man. The wrath of God is a terrible thing that I never want to see or experience.

God gave warning after warning to the kingdoms of Israel and Judah, but they kept ignoring them. Even after seeing prophecies being fulfilled, they continued to ignore the warnings of God. Are we doing the same today? Are you ignoring God's warnings?

Isaiah gives a strong warning and indictment against those who have forsaken God. He warns each of us that His hand is stretched out, and who can thwart or stop Him and His plan?

The Holy Spirit is pictured as flying around the throne of God, the seven spirits settled on Jesus, the seven spirits divided itself on the worshipers in the upper room. The gifts settle on us today.

The Holy Spirit is pictured as circling the throne of God in seven distinct forms.  These seven aspects of the Holy Spirit descended on Jesus and later on the believers in the Upper Room.

The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is the next logical step in your Christian walk. The gifts from the Holy Spirit are only accessed through the Baptism in the Holy Spirit.

The third set of gifts in the Bible is from the Holy Spirit Himself. These gifts are only accessed through the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a logical step in your walk with the Lord. The Holy Spirit has been alive and well and living in you since you were saved. Don't be afraid of the Spirit of God.

Tonight we look at Isaiah chapters 11 and 12 that lets us know that God will be bringing the Jews back to their homeland. When? In that Day. What does that mean? Let's look and see!

In the midst of the warnings to the nation of Israel for their backsliding, Isaiah reminds them of the future. That a branch would shoot forth out of the stump of Jesse and would be a place of refuge for them.

Following a warning of judgement, Isaiah gives us some great words of encouragement. He reminds us that a remnant will be saved and the anointing or the Spirit of God enables us to break the bondage that Satan has placed on us.

Isaiah continues to warn the nation of Israel and us that correction is coming. We either heed and yield to Him now or will be destroyed later. We must constantly remind ourselves that the creator is much greater than the created.

In Isaiah 5:29 we find God telling Isaiah that his hand was poised to strike. In our text this evening we find him saying my hand is still poised to strike. Why? Because they refused to take correction, they ignored the admonitions of God. These passages written to warn the Jews is certainly relevant today. He is warning us. He is rebuking us. He is correcting us. But seemingly to no avail. His hand is still upraised.

Isaiah closes out chapter 8 with some very discouraging words: gloom and darkness. But then he gives a glimmer of hope. Actually much more than a glimmer; it is a hope for all the world. In the midst of the darkness, light would come to the earth.

Jesus Christ, as head of the body, gives us gifts to administrate the church. They are basically full time offices to lead the church.

The body of Christ, which is the church, needs encouragers, givers, leaders, and the merciful. Many spiritual gifts spill over into another. As an example, many church leaders are exhorters, givers and sensitive to others.

The Holy Spirit is already at work within you at salvation. Some of you have the gift of prophecy which is speaking forth God's word. Some of you serve others with great humility. Some of you teach God's word with great accuracy.
