Worship Is More Than Singing
Preached to: Middle School Students
Speaker: Pastor Amanda Hahn
This week at Amplify Youth, we learned that worship is more than singing—it’s a lifestyle rooted in Romans 12:1-2. Key points include:
Worship involves being set apart for God, avoiding conformity to the world while allowing God to transform us.
Our daily routines and choices reveal what we value most—do they reflect a heart devoted to God?
Worship means offering ourselves as living sacrifices by prioritizing prayer, Scripture, and God-honoring actions in every aspect of life.
Students were challenged to evaluate their schedules and consider how their lives can reflect their worship and relationship with God.
Keep up with all that’s going on at Amplify Youth, including dates, times, sign-ups, and forms, on our main page.

STARTER:
The message begins by highlighting the importance of worship as a meaningful and intentional part of our lives, using a fun comparison of schedules to reflect priorities and how our daily routines reveal what matters most to us.MESSAGE:
Worship is not limited to singing but is a lifestyle of being "set apart" for God, as described in Romans 12:1-2. This involves avoiding conformity to the world, allowing God to transform us, and offering our lives as living sacrifices.DIG DEEPER:
Through practical illustrations like the toilet brush (purity and purpose), a collectible figurine (being usable for God), and oil and water (Christians being distinct from the world), the sermon emphasizes that believers must stand out by prioritizing God in every aspect of life.APPLY:
Reflect on your daily schedule and priorities: Do they reflect a life of worship and devotion to God? Consider how your attitudes, actions, and decisions in your unique roles can demonstrate a life set apart for Him. Worship God daily by living out your faith in all areas of life. -
Romans 12:1-2 (NLT)
And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Psalm 39:7-8 (NLT)
And so, Lord, where do I put my hope? My only hope is in you.
Rescue me from my rebellion. Do not let fools mock me.Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. -
