Spiritual Checkup, Part 3
Many people ask how can you hear from God? The simple answer is to just listen. But then comes the question: how is your hearing? Do we have selective hearing? Are we obedient to obey His voice when we hear it?
Spiritual Checkup, Part 2
Are you seeing through eyes of faith or eyes of fear? Faith and fear can not abide together; one will overcome the other. Let's improve our vision and see through eyes of faith.
Spiritual Checkup, Part 1
The definition of a check-up is "a thorough examination, especially a medical or dental one." There is certainly nothing wrong with that. But what about a spiritual checkup? Let’s start with a spiritual eye exam.
Loving Our Neighbor, Part 3
The disciples filled Jerusalem with their teaching. That was their neighborhood. Wherever Jesus was became his neighborhood and wherever he was he loved his neighbors regardless of what they looked like or how different they were. Can we do anything less?
Loving Our Neighbor, Part 2
God's word tells us to love our neighbor, but who is our neighbor? More importantly how can I show love to my neighbor?
Loving Our Neighbor, Part 1
God tells us we must love our neighbor as ourself. What does that mean? Who is our neighbor? How does a Christian show their love for their neighbor? Good questions. Let's take a look!
God Comforts His People
Isaiah chapter 40 begins a new direction for this prophecy. Up until this point it was all about Israel being taken into captivity. This chapter begins to refocus not just on the current situation but the future. It is a message of comfort, encouragement and restoration.
Warnings and Admonitions From Jesus
At the height of Jesus' popularity, he cautioned and warned the people of a number of things. We also need to heed these warnings. We will be tempted and stressed, but we need to stay on guard and stay on task.
Meanwhile Here On Earth
We Christians have a great future: our retirement plan is out of this world! But while we are waiting, we have ministry to fulfill, a purpose, and a calling. Paul calls it a "living sacrifice", that is acceptable to God.
Open Doors of Opportunity
Paul is a great example of someone finding open doors and entering them. He ask for prayer that doors would be open and he would go through and minister. Let's do the same thing lets pray for open doors and then ask God for His anointing as we go through those doors.
Rejected Love
Israel, like many today, rejected God's unfailing love. Yet even when rejecting God's unfailing love, that love is still unfailing and unconditional. It is His desire to have everyone to respond to that love.
To Timothy, Part 25
In Paul's final admonition to Timothy, he gives him some final advice--some final lessons that if he would keep, they would be greatly beneficial.
To Timothy, Part 24
Paul understood that he not only had to run his race, he needed to pass the baton to the next in line. We need to realize we do not run alone or for ourselves, we run our race as laid out by God: to win and to pass the baton to someone else.
To Timothy, Part 23
Paul told Timothy to preach the Word--not ideas or philosophies, but the Word. He encouraged him to fulfill his ministry or his service and to do it all with love and patience.
To Timothy, Part 22
Paul admonishes Timothy to not only to remember the Word, but to hear the Word and to live by the Word.
To Timothy, Part 21
Paul lets Timothy know that hard times are coming. The Message Bible tells us that some have become allergic to God. Wouldn't it be good to be so full of God that some would not want to be around us? Not because of arrogant behavior, but because God is felt in our presence.
To Timothy, Part 20
Paul tells Timothy to flee youthful lust, and then he tells him how: by pursuing righteousness, faith and love.
