The Impact of a Person of Faith
The writer of Hebrews tells us that the parents of Moses were people of faith. They only had their child for a brief period of time but during that time their faith impacted his life and the lives of millions of others. Never underestimate the influence of a person of faith.
Christianity Defined - Part 2
1 Peter chapter 1 gives a great definition of Christianity, what it is and what it isn't. It speaks of so much doctrinal truth and the practical side of serving God. It not only tells us to live holy but why we should. Let's view the details.
Christianity Defined - Part 1
1 Peter Chapter 1 shares so many biblical truths that I have called it "Christianity Defined." In this small chapter, we find many truths that are essential to Christianity. Let's look at them.
While They Were Sleeping
Matthew 13 contains a number of parables one of which is the parable of the weeds. This parable speaks of the enemy coming in while they were sleeping and spreads the seeds of weeds. Apathy is a type of sleeping, while we are remaining silent the enemy is at work.
The New Beginning
Sometimes it appears that we think the empty tomb was the ending but instead it is the new beginning. The first Passover began a New Year; the last Passover when Jesus died was the sign of a new beginning. Old things have passed away, all things have become new.
It Is Finished
Jesus on his deathbed, the cross, speaks some awesome words. "Into your hands I commit my spirit and it is finished." What was finished? The work of Jesus the man was completed.
The Beginning of the End
There are so many truths that we can receive in the story of the resurrection of Lazarus, but one of the greatest truths is it was the beginning of the end. Everything had to be in place in order for the timing of Jesus death, burial and resurrection could be accomplished. The clock had already been ticking but this great miracle aligned the events up to fulfill the greatest miracle the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
God Keeps His Promises
The Bible tells us God cannot lie. Jesus said He was Truth. We know that these are true statements and therefore we can count on God to keep His word and promises.
Out of Chaos
God created the earth out of nothing, it was void, it was empty, it was chaotic. But when God spoke, beauty came. Out of chaos, there was light; out of nothingness, came creation.
